SEQTA Smash
Seqta Smash is a tool written in Microsoft Visual Studio, designed to allow the easy copying and pasting of marks between Seqta and Microsoft Excel. It was built to prevent manual data transfer, speeding up the process and ensuring accuracy.
This software is not part of the Seqta Suite, or Microsoft Office, and is not supported by SEQTA, or Microsoft. The program was written by a teacher, not a software developer. Use at your own risk.
How does it work?
When called upon in Seqta the software takes over your keyboard to cycle through each Seqta cell to transfer data to or from a buffer. When called upon in Excel, SeqtaSmash transfers the data to/from the buffer.
It's free to download, please read some important notes:
First-time users should try the software out on a blank marks book first.
While copying/pasting from Seqta, it's important that you do wait until it's finished.
Since the software responds to hotkeys (Ctrl+B and Ctrl+G), avoid having the program open when you're not transferring marks.
The software is dumb. It detects that you've got the right software open, but that's about it. It has no way of knowing if you are pasting in the right cells, or if your students are ordered correctly. Use at your own risk.
The most common user error with the software is accidentally overwriting data in the wrong column. If this happens, do no panic - just let the program finish and exit the spreadsheet without saving changes and try again!
